For The Trail
We have a mountain to climb
The state of nature and biodiversity is crucial for the health of the planet and our own well-being, as we depend on the natural world for clean air, water, food, and a stable climate. Biodiversity—the variety of life—plays a vital role in maintaining ecosystems, and when one part is damaged, it affects everything from the food chain to the quality of our environment. Spending time in nature, like trail running, has huge benefits for mental and physical health, reducing stress, improving mood, and boosting creativity. However, the natural world is under threat from pollution, climate change, and habitat destruction, particularly through practices like animal agriculture, putting species and ecosystems at risk. As trail runners, you're already connected to nature, feeling the ground beneath your feet and breathing fresh air, but the state of the environment directly impacts the places we love to run. To help, runners can respect the land by staying on marked trails, respecting wildlife, and leaving no trace. Sharing the importance of protecting nature with others, supporting sustainable practices, and getting involved in local environmental efforts, like clean-up events or tree planting, can all make a big difference. By taking these small actions, we can protect the places we love to run, helping to safeguard them for future generations and ensuring the well-being of both the planet and ourselves.
The aim of Kelp and Fern and For The Trail is to share the magic of the natural world and this is done with three main aims.
- Inspire others through film and documentaries about the beauty and magic of the trail and environments we move through
- Share the issues and difficulties that the trail and natural world are facing
- Act upon a few key topics to make the trail and world a more wild place for those that follow
